Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school strives to find the leader in all of our scholars. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

I teach 2 sections of 3rd grade Math and Science. Our scholars come from all different backgrounds and economic status. Our School is a Title 1 school and about 90% of our scholars ESL students.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times the students will be able to choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Students will be more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. I have selected different seating options that will be easy to maintain and sanitize. From stability balls, wobble stools and fidget bands for desks will be just the start of options as we start the new school year.

Currently this is my 1st year teaching during a pandemic and all students attending class are in regular chairs and desks.

But I have noticed that many are uncomfortable and have expressed what they would like to sit on. I will work on making my classroom more efficient, and to meet the needs of all my students so that they may be successful.
