My Students
We are a Title I school, with students from both low and mid socio-economic status. My students are energetic learners who love to have fun! I have a high number of students this year who are more physically active, as well as two students with special needs, and two students on behavior plans. I am constantly searching for new ways to keep them engaged and focused during instruction so that each one of them is encouraged to be the best student they can be!
My Project
My students are very energetic learners who need to move and wiggle during teaching time. These wobble stools will allow more movement than traditional chairs during reading intervention group, while also encouraging good posture and physical confidence!
Our district has placed a special emphasis on reading skills for K-2 students this year, which means I spend extra time each day monitoring students' reading progress.
This directly affects how I organize small group instruction to target specific needs. Students will be able to use these stools both during small groups, and when they come back to read with me one-on-one. For more active students, they will provide an outlet for their extra energy so their brains are more focused on proficient reading!
More than half of students from low‑income households
