My students need Softzone playroom chairs, Bouncy Bands for Chairs, Balance Discs, Big Joe Bean Bag chairs and My Desk lapboards to move around in their seats and the classroom without disrupting others.
Imagine having to move every 2-3 years leaving behind friends and having to start fresh in a new school or having a parent be deployed for months at a time. Many of my students have already lived in three or four different places. They never know when they will have to leave or where they will go next. In addition, one of their parents could be deployed to any part of the world for months at a time. Sometimes in locations where they can have little or no communication.
I teach in a school with a large population of military families and am working hard to create a safe, fun environment where they can learn.
I try to have a classroom that is welcoming to new students that join us and allows them to forget about the stress of having a parent far away.
My Project
I think it is important to let students sit where they are most comfortable when learning and completing work. It can be hard for students to sit still and focus during class time. I would love for my students to have the ability to use Balance Discs and Bouncy Bands for Chairs to help them focus when they are working at their desks. This will also help keep students from distracting their classmates. Comfortable seating options, including the Big Joe Bean Bag and Playroom Chairs and lap desks, will allow them to spread out around the classroom during independent work time.
All of these things will allow my students to work to their highest potential.
