My Students
Our school is part of the No Excuses University program. We strive to teach all of our students that after high school comes college. Each classroom has adopted a university, which builds an incredible community within each classroom. Our students become invested and proud to represent their college. This is a great way to educate our students about different colleges around the United States.
My class consists of 32 AMAZING second graders at a Title 1 school.
Our classroom adopted Arizona State University. My students learn all about classes ASU has to offer, we track and talk about sports, and we learn the ASU fight song.
My students are so unique and special to me. My classroom consists of English Language Learners and gifted students. There are so many personalities in my room and it makes for an exciting time in second grade.
My Project
Flexible seating is important in the classroom. Students are able to choose different seating options that help them stay active so they can stay focused on their work. It also provides comfort, encourages kids to share space in the classroom, and helps create a sense of community.
Traditional desks and chairs in the classroom are a thing of the past.
Students in my classroom love working on the floor, sitting on a yoga ball, or having a band on their chair for their feet. This allows them to move around comfortably and get their wiggles out as they complete their work in class.
