Flexible Seating While Maintaining Social Distancing in a New Classroom

My Students

I will be moving to 4th grade next year. This will be a new experience for me, but I am committed to teaching them how to work together, persevere and truly enjoy school. The last year has been difficult to say the least. Between having a hybrid classroom and following Covid guidelines, school looked very different from what we are used to. I would like to bring back some fun and collaboration to the school setting. Being I will be now teaching 4th grade, my students are much bigger than I have had in the past and the materials I have now are not able to be used with them.

My Project

These items would allow my students to choose which type of seating they would like to use according to their learning style throughout the day. It will allow them to be distant from others, but at the same time allow them to collaborate due to easy mobilization.

Students will have a choice to sit wherever they would like.

They can choose between floor cushions, stools, rolly chairs, or even stand at a high table. Giving them a choice of seating will help keep their focus and be more successful with their academics.

Studies have shows that flexible seating and seating choices give the students ability to focus on their learning.
