My Students
This year I have a classroom with a wide rage of diverse learning abilities. From those that devour books and are enthusiastic to learn whatever I throw at them, to those that struggle with reading and lack self confidence, thus finding it difficult to complete daily tasks. Whatever the struggle, I work tirelessly to help each student be successful in my classroom.
These 5th graders are such great little people, and I want to help each of them become life long learners.
They each have unique backgrounds and come with their own perspectives on life. I feel so blessed to have each one of them in my class, as I am able to learn from them as much as they learn from me.
As an educator, I understand that each and every child learns differently. What works for some students, doesn't work for others. This is why it is so important to provide students with the necessary tools that allow them to be successful.
My Project
In today's generation, staying focused is a huge problem and many students have a difficult time feeling successful in learning because of their lack of focus.
My students are in need of tools that will allow them to move while they learn.
The wobble chairs, ball chairs, and floor cushions will allow for alternate seating options around the room. The chair and desk bands, will allow these students the ability to focus while sitting at their desks.
The listening center and books on cd are an additional component as I try to get my reluctant readers excited about the adventures they can have by reading. Listening to others read can also help with fluency as they learn what pacing, inflection and expression should sound like.
By giving my students these options, I feel like I am giving them the opportunity to not only succeed in learning, but to enjoy the process. It is my hope that through the alternate seating options and the listening center, I can build successful learners as well as better readers who are excited to read their next adventure.
