This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our kindergarten class follows an ICT (integrated inclusion of students) learning model. A large percentage of students have an IEP with diagnosed learning needs. Many students have sensory sensitivities which make it difficult to self regulate their attention and bodies. Flexible seating will support students to regulate their bodies during instruction by allowing them to safely fidget. The seat moves around and it promotes community and collaboration. This seating is more comfortable and allows for natural movement, which students need from time to time to stay engaged. These materials can be used during whole group meetings on our carpet and on their chairs to complete individual activities. A typical classroom chair is not supporting the learning needs of our class. Please help us raise money to purchase flexible seating for young learners who need it.
