Help me give my students flexible seating. This project will give my students several choices when it comes to seating such as beanbag chairs, comfy pillows, wobble cushion, or balance balls.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am from a high poverty area near the Mexican border. I teach 6th-grade math and science and have about 50 kids a day in my class, most needing supplies on a regular basis. We have a very small school population which does not provide us with much funding.
Despite these challenges my students persevere!
They are wonderful 11 and 12-year-olds that work very hard to achieve the high goals set forth for them. They come into me not loving math and struggling to find out where they fit. It is my job to provide the best environment I can for them. As a teacher, I only want the best for my students and treat them as my own.
My Project
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an approach to teaching that aims to give all students equal opportunities to succeed, no matter how they learn. Research shows that flexible seating helps students become more engaged and in charge of their learning. By providing these flexible seating options, it will help my students succeed and increase their focus and productivity in the classroom and beyond!
My students love when they are given choices, what's more empowering than deciding where you are going to sit?
These seating options will not only assist in the release of their extra energy throughout the day, but it will also allow them to be less disruptive to others in the class. The floor seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. With multiple types of seating, they can pick and choose what will work best for them depending on their preference and activity.
It is important for me to provide a safe, welcoming environment where my students can learn and grow. Every student has different needs. By giving my students the chance to choose their seats, I am giving them the best opportunity to succeed.
Research shows that flexible seating helps students become more engaged and in charge of their learning. Having those flexible seating options available will help my students succeed and increase their focus and productivity in the classroom and beyond!
