Help me give my students the opportunity to focus and be their best! Children need to have flexible seating in classrooms to ensure their needs are being met. Please help us help our students to thrive!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an inclusive classroom made up of students from Bangladesh, Africa and many South and Central American Countries. Our students are predominantly English Language Learners and benefit so much from visual and multisensory support.
These students come from extremely low socio-economic backgrounds.
Parents have difficulty supporting their schoolwork at home, due to language barriers and hardships of daily life.
Our students have an abundance of needs which require us to put alternative systems in place. We are hoping to create a completely barrier free environment so all of our students can benefit and succeed!
My Project
Our classroom is made up of 25 children who are English Language Learners, Students with Disabilities and others who come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. These children come to school to learn, grow and thrive. Some of them have a difficult time focusing due to obstacles they face daily.
Flexible seating allows children to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength.
It helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
Our students can only benefit from having more barrier free opportunities, which come from creating an environment for them to do so.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
