This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, kind, and eager to learn, however, many struggle with focus, self-regulation, and emotional expression. In our classroom, I aim to create a space where every student feels comfortable, supported, and ready to learn. This project will provide flexible seating options and social-emotional learning (SEL) resources to help students manage their emotions, develop self-awareness, and engage in learning in a way that works best for them.

The floor cushions, fidget bands, and stacking stools will give students the flexibility to choose seating that supports their individual needs.

Some students focus better when they can move their feet, while others feel more engaged sitting on a cushion rather than a traditional chair. By offering different seating options, I can create a classroom environment that reduces stress and increases focus, helping all students succeed.

The SEL books, stress balls, emotions charts, and learning activities will help my students build emotional intelligence and develop essential coping skills. Many of my students experience big emotions but struggle with identifying and expressing them in a healthy way. These resources will provide engaging ways to talk about feelings, develop empathy, and practice self-regulation, creating a more peaceful and supportive classroom.

My goal for this project is to foster a learning environment where students feel emotionally safe, comfortable, and empowered to express themselves.
