My Students

My school is a middle income elementary school. We do not receive Title I funding, yet most of the families do not have a great deal of money to help support special school projects. About 48% of the students receive free/reduced lunch and 1/3 are English Language Learners.

I want each of my students to have the best possible learning environment to meet their individual needs.

My third graders come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and a wide range of cultures which helps to make our class interesting and fun.

My Project

I began using Flexible Seating in my classroom 3 years ago and it was a huge hit! Students were more engaged in learning and less fidgety when they used Flexible Seating. I want to expand on seating options and sizes because I teach 3rd grade now. Research shows that students need to be able to move while they are learning.

Experience has shown that my students love wobble stools, tall stools, and yoga balls the best.

They love being able to choose from many seating options and are better able to manage their learning when they choose seating that is appropriate to their needs. These seating options will help them improve attention and learning while sitting comfortably.
