Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Flexible seating will increase student engagement because students will be able to select the seating option that best suits their learning style and needs. When students are comfortable in class, it contributes to a positive classroom environment where students feel welcome to participate and take risks in their learning.

Students that come to the reading lab will be given a choice in their seating arrangement based on their individualized preferences and needs.

This gives students control over their learning and empowers them in the classroom.

Providing students with seating choices will minimize disruptive behaviors and reduce distractions because students have the ability to move around freely if they need to instead of sitting in a traditional chair at a desk. Flexible seating is an accommodation that can be offered to meet the diverse learning styles and sensory needs of every student.

Flexible seating arrangements allow for students to interact and collaborate with their peers during literacy centers and book club discussions. When students have the opportunity to collaborate with peers more meaningful learning occurs. Flexible seating allows students to feel comfortable in the classroom which increases participation, collaboration, facilitates a sense of community and increases overall happiness.
