This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a new school year begins, changes in the environment will be beneficial where students can feel comfortable while learning. These items will make a difference to my upcoming students’ learning because it will empower them to customize their learning environment and boost their engagement. In addition, flexible seating will allow students to find the best area where they can work most effectively based on their needs and preferences.
Flexible seating options can enhance comfort and support compared to traditional desks.
Allowing students to choose between the rug, stools, cushions or lap desk can help improve their physical well-being and foster a sense of independence. Given the complexity of the content in fourth grade, flexible seating can encourage students to engage with their environment. This can lead to an increase in blood flow to the brain, helping them stay alert and focused. Having alternative seating can also help students build relationships with their classmates.
One of my goals for this project is to be able to quickly pair up, create small groups, or engage with the whole class without rearranging their desks. These items will be of great use for my emergent bilingual students. If a student needs support in a task, they can work with a partner at the most comfortable seating area. My students will appreciate alternative seating options in our classroom.
