Flexible Seating Options

My students need flexible seating to complete their activities at the table. They need to be able to "wobble" and move around to keep themselves focused. I am excited to see the effects.

My Students

Our students are silly. Our students are energetic. Our students are loving. I work with the babies of our elementary school.I work with about eighteen Kindergarten and First grade students each year. I pull them into small groups and bring them into a more calm and quiet environment. Throughout our small groups, I allow my students to sit on the floor, do jumping jacks for a break and play with fidgets. I try to give them as many opportunities to move and get up as possible.

They love to talk about their accomplishments.

They get super proud when they can read a harder level book. They love playing games like "head, shoulders, knees and toes" and "Simon Says". I use these games for brain breaks so they can have some time to get up and move. They have a hard time sitting still, thus I try to break my instruction up into smaller amounts of time.

My Project

These six wobble seats will be perfect for my kidney table. Students will be able to fidget and move around while working diligently at the table. I am hoping to see my students be able to focus on the activity at hand if they can wobble with their stools. I am hoping to see growth in reading level progress and engagement as a whole.

Children will feel more successful and independent as learners if they can advance in their reading ability.

More opportunities to fidget will allow them to stay in their seats and focus on what is in front of them.
