This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves PK-8th graders in Santa Ana, California. Our school mission is that," we are committed to provide a university-inspired pathway of success while closing the achievement gap for all students, including foster youth and those underserved."

Our school vision seeks, "to establish a sustainable education program where scholarship is the standard, diversity is treasured and parents are partners in student achievement.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.

My Project

"An active mind cannot exist in an inactive body." - General, George S. Patton. While most students are able to stay seated all day, not all children can, especially when chairs are hard and sometimes uncomfortable. Students are trapped; they can't stretch, twist, readjust or fidget.

Our class will use the table, chairs, bench, and pillows on a daily basis in cooperative learning groups and independently as needed.

Students will have the freedom to move around and sit anywhere in the classroom without fear of disrupting others or getting in trouble. My students love working on the floor. Some sit against the wall, others lay down on the floor while they work on a project, use their Chromebooks or read silently. Learning will no longer be limited in my classroom. Active students will become active learners in a positive setting. Students need to be able to work together and accomplish daily learning objectives and goals.
