I will be teaching a class of multicultural fifth graders who are a mixture of ELD, special needs, and gifted students. They are eager students who are ready to learn and try their best.
More than half of our students come from low income families who cannot provide them with the resources they need to help give their children the best education possible.
These students are the ones on the free or reduced-price lunch list.
With the diverse students in my class, I always find myself modifying everything I teach.
My Project
My 5th graders are filled with excitement and curiosity every day as they enter the classroom. These students come from a variety of backgrounds. I have students who are English Language Learners, with disabilities, gifted, students who live in poverty and are even homeless. These 5th graders set their troubles aside and come to school daily to get the proper education they deserve. All of these kids learn in different ways!
I mean, how can every child learn the same exact way in the same exact position?
It simply doesn't make sense! I always have a group of 3-4 who likes to stand while doing their work and then a group of 6-8 who like to put their heads on the table (lounge) as they are being productive. I also have those kids who have the "wiggles" and are in constant motion. All of them require different settings to be the best learners they can be. That is why I need your help!
\
We need a wide range of seats the children can choose to sit at in order to be the best learners they can be. A range that varies from high to low positions. I will be posting a few projects with different furniture I need to make this possible. Allowing kids to work in an environment they feel comfortable with is a step forward to a better education. Your help in making this dream of mine a possibility is the KEY! Thank you in advance for your support, every little bit counts!
