This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic learners who come to school every day eager to learn! They like to move, and we incorporate many kinesthetic movements into our daily learning and teaching practices. Being behind a desk and in a chair all day is difficult for many of my students.
My students come from a lower social economic status where school is often vastly different from their home life.
Making our classroom more comfortable would put more students at ease and make school a more inviting place!
My Project
My students LOVE having choice and options in the classroom, especially in regards to how they learn. When my students and I brainstormed ideas of flexible seating, they voted on wobble chairs and balance balls. I know they'll love getting those wiggles and squiggles out while they're learning!
Currently, all of my students sit at traditional desks with chairs but with flexible seating they would have to ability to choose the right seat for themselves!
Wobble chairs and balance balls can replace the hard, plastic chairs and give students the ability to learn in a less restrictive environment. What my students and I love most about the wobble chairs and balance balls is how they build those core muscles needed to sit ergonomically correct. My students need and would cherish every opportunity to be active throughout their learning day.
