Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 5th Grade at a Title 1 Elementary campus and we were blessed with a new building and new technology last year! My students have access to 1-1 Chromebooks at school although many of them have limited access to technology at home because they come from low income households. My students are very social and they love to work with partners and groups. I appreciate their passion, dedication, and energy (10 year olds have so much energy) but I also recognize that their energy needs a healthy output in the classroom so that my amazing students can learn without distracting each other!
My Project
My students love to be able to move around and work collaboratively and my goal is to make their learning as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! Let’s be honest, when they enjoy learning they learn MORE! These flexible seating options are perfect for my students for DEAR time, intervention, and small group activities! They will allow my students to get away from their desks and sit on the floor and at small tables. They will also allow my students to take some control of their learning by allowing them to make daily choices about where and how they learn best. Learning to work cooperatively with others is such an important skill and giving my students more options for seating allows me to provide more opportunities for teamwork.
