My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive a free breakfast and lunch every school day. My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school. Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!
With the income restrictions placed on some of the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.
My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average elementary student does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.
My Project
I have a very sweet class of third graders who learn reading in my classroom. Reading can be a challenge for many students, especially those who have the wiggles. It is difficult for an adult to focus on what they are reading when we have built up energy, imagine the kiddos!
Students can get their wiggles out while they are reading.
This project is for 6 wobble stools for our small group reading table. This is a space where students focus on reading a book with other students on their same level. We discuss things that happen in the book, how we feel about the book, and other comprehension questions. These wobble stools will allow the students to calmly get their wiggles out while staying focused on progressing their reading!
