I currently teach 5th grade scholars in the Miami, Florida area in a difficult neighborhood of extreme poverty. I have enjoyed my year so much that I want to continue on with my scholars next year to 5th grade. My students are bright, intuitive, and have the drive to succeed no matter their circumstances. My students attend one of the lowest-achieving schools with little access to resources and experiences.
My students face unimaginable obstacles inside and outside of the classroom.
A majority of my students are at least a grade level behind where they should be, but that doesn't affect their determination to succeed. My students have a growth mindset, and they continue to amaze me with their perseverance and persistence. They will succeed. They will achieve.
The sky is the limit at my elementary school!
My Project
My students spend their days in a desk and chair from 8:00AM-4:00PM. In order to be successful, students deserve options in where they learn and how they learn. Giving my students to option to work on the ground increases focus, accountability, and motivation.
Flexible seating will give them a time to write and work comfortable and put forth their best efforts.
I feel that these lap desks and flex bands will allow students to put their energy to good use, but also allow them to work to their full potential. They deserve a diverse learning and enriching environment which pushes their creativity. This will leverage our reading and writing class and make it an even more amazing environment!
