Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students crave knowledge. Learning with hands-on activities is more meaningful than reading about it in a textbook. For my students being able to test and redesign a possible solution is a far better experience in the learning process.

My students are very diverse.

Our school is located in a high property area of Las Vegas, Nevada. Being a magnet school, we like to take a different approach to the learning process. Giving students the opportunity to reach and answer by experimentations using the design process. Supplies like these kits will allow them to do just that.

My Project

Sitting at a desk for hours at a time is not beneficial. Today's students need flexibility. If students are comfortable, then they are focused and retain more of what is being taught. Instead of worrying about moving or that their chair is not comfortable. Movement is key in keeping students focused. My students will use the Rocker Chairs for reading centers so they can be comfortable while reading. They will use the Surfing portable desks, as so they can sit anywhere in the classroom or our school garden and have a sturdy writing area. I plan on placing the white board cutouts on the floor and wall around the room so every space is usable as a desk. Creating an inviting area for the students to learn reduces learning stress and anxiety, students will love sitting next to the fish light as they complete their daily work.

By transforming my classroom into a 21st Century classroom, I believe my students will be more focused.

Out with the old and in with the new! Offering multiple seating arrangements for various lessons, will give students flexibility and movements to keep their bodies and minds focused during the school day.
