My Students
My students hail from the nation's capital, Washington D.C. Our school is located on the sunny side of Ward 7. My scholars are intelligent, resilient, and think critically; much like engineers.
“A child’s course in life should be determined not by the zip code they are born in, but by the strength of their work ethic and the scope of their dreams”(President Barack Obama).
My students aspire to have future careers in the STEAM field. They have interests in becoming future engineers, quantum physicists, and cyber security specialists, to name a few. Some of my scholars even think that they will create a new job or career path that no one has thought of yet.
My scholars love to learn and engage with hands-on projects and activities. I'm amazed at the amount of joy that exudes from their faces as they are making connections to the real-world and how things work.
My Project
My students often complain about the desks being uncomfortable for them to sit at and do work. They say that it restricts their motion and they'd like to be able to get up and sit down without having to maneuver into the seat. My students often do math standing up because they wish they had better seating. We visited another school and they were able to experience what it was like to sit in these type of chairs. They expressed to me that these seats would be a game changer and that this would help them be more engaged inside of the classroom. Please help me by providing them with flexible seating to be able to give math a new meaning!
