This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a very diverse cultural and socioeconomic background. The majority of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch. Some of the students have special needs. Despite these challenges, these young students want to give nothing less than their best.
My students are inquisitive, creative, and ready for any challenge.
They are considerate of others and accepting of each other's differences. I am thankful to have these amazing little friends in my life. They are an inspiration to me.
My Project
My students need flexible seating in the classroom to help them be successful. Flexible seating engages and empowers students. I want to be able to give them the option of how they learn and work best. For some that might be laying on the floor or sitting on a cushion at a low table. Other students prefer a stool.
I want to have an environment where all students can be successful.
I teach students that have difficulty sitting in a normal classroom. Sitting in a chair all day long just isn't going to work for them. Allowing for more comfortable seating will allow the students to focus more on learning.
I love for students to work in groups. They learn so much from each other. Flexible seating facilitates student-centered, collaborative learning and creates a positive classroom community.
