Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Energetic. Attentive. Curious. Collaborative. Engaged. Loving. Leaders. My students encompass all of these traits. They are energetic and engaged and have a true love of learning. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have unique needs. Our Title I school provides services to students from low socioeconomic homes, different cultures, and a variety of learning needs. My students are eager to learn and absolutely love working together in collaborative groups. I want to be able to provide the best education possible for them and meet their needs in my classroom.
My Project
My goal is to create a classroom environment where students have a choice. They should be learning how to make decisions to take control of their learning. The classroom should be conducive to collaboration, decision-making, critical thinking, and creativity. Providing floor options, wobble chairs, or stability balls allows students to make a choice in how they will learn and promotes student engagement and productivity.
Flexible seating in the classroom will provide a variety of benefits for my students.
These benefits include burning more calories, using excess energy, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. Most importantly, flexible seating creates various opportunities for students to work in a comfortable and productive environment
By providing a wide variety of flexible seating options, all students- whether they have ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, or just prefer to sit on the floor to learn, will have the opportunity to have a choice.
