This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is full of energetic 3rd-5th grade Resource students. Many of my students have Autism and ADHD and movement is necessary for them to focus. Therefore, I encourage a lot of movement and rotations in my groups, because I know it is difficult to have them sit still for too long.
I like to empower my students to have their own choice in everything they do.
By giving them the opportunity of flexible seating, it will allow them to increase focus and concentration to do well on difficult tasks.
My Project
By having alternative seating in the classroom, students are free to make a choice of which seating arrangement will work best for their learning. I will begin by teaching them how to make appropriate choices for their choice of seating, and how it can help them to be more successful in the classroom.
Stools, balance chairs, discs and fidget bands will help raise student engagement and allow the students to be more successful.
Having flexible seating in my classroom will help reduce the number of behaviors that occur on a day to day basis. Students will be able to spread out and work in a more comfortable area.
