My students need flexible seating options such as NEOROK stools, wobble cushions, stability ball chairs, and bouncy bands.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Conroy's classroom raised $877

My Students
My students are five and six years old; they are curious, energetic, and excited to see what each day has in store for them! Outside the windows of our classroom is a forceful and ever-changing world full of choices. I feel that I owe my students the chance to learn in a receptive and self-motivating environment. How can I expect my students to solve problems and make choices independently if I am constantly solving their problems and make choices for them?
My Project
Research shows that allowing students to sit in comfortable, flexible seating options greatly enhances their focus. I believe students will inevitably become more engaged when learning takes place in a flexible seating classroom!
So what is flexible seating?
Flexible seating classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and help them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. It gives students a choice in how they learn
Research states that benefits of flexible seating include using up excess energy, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and posture.
I believe by incorporating flexible seating options such as; hokki stools, core disks, stability balls and bouncy bands I will have a higher rate of student success! Hooki stools and bouncy bands provide students with an energy outlet to better help them focus. Research shows that allowing students to sit in comfortable, flexible seating options greatly enhances their focus.
With a fulfilled project, my classroom would change quite a bit. I would be able to offer my students a variety of seating options based on what best meets their needs. Students would be able to sit on stability balls or hooki stools at their tables instead of the traditional classroom chair. Bouncy bands on the traditional classroom chair would provide students with another outlet for their energy while still keeping their focus. Seat cushion will be used at a kneeling table or another work space on the floor. These options will allow them to become more comfortable, find a responsible working space and get the most out of our work times and classroom activities.
