I have the great privilege of working with 83 caring, dynamic, and driven sixth grade students. Our school is committed to inclusion, providing opportunities for students of all abilities to learn in a safe, supportive, and challenging environment.
We are committed to a whole-student support system through wellness that recognizes the strength in our diversity and encourages mindfulness practices across curriculum.
Together with our students, we establish a classroom culture and agreements that center learning, appropriate risk taking, and mistake making.
My Project
Imagine the place that you most enjoy reading, working, writing, and collaborating. For many of us, we desire choice in our work spaces - a place to stand and work, lay down to read, or meet around a small table. This year, students advocated for standing tables and reading nooks that resemble the places that many of us enjoy. This project seeks to advance the flexible seating opportunities available in our classroom.
Your donation will allow our students to choose the learning space that meets their individual needs - to allow for flexible seating and student collaboration.
The two tables will be wonderful additions for small and large group conferencing and project-based learning. The lap-desks will allow students to use their devices around the room - in backjacks, on a mat, or sitting in the book nook. Finally, the six yoga ball chairs will be fantastic for kinesthetic learners who naturally seek movement as part of their learning process.
I am thrilled to gain any support you are able to offer as we redesign a classroom more conducive to today's learners!
