Flexible Seating For Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities
My students need flexible seating options with stools and special chairs. My students have a difficult time regulating their emotions and when they have more choices of seating in the classroom they are better able to focus on their academics.

My Students
I teach in a title 1 school in Orlando, Florida to a class of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. This classroom is specifically designed for students with emotional behavioral disabilities stemming from psychological to environmental beginnings.
Many students with emotional and behavioral disabilities simply need love, as well as a dependable and safe environment which I strive to provide for them everyday.
They also require modifications to their learning environments such as small group areas and flexible options for seating in order for them to be successful in their academics.
My students need to be in smaller classrooms in order to be successful in their academics. In addition to the everyday subjects, I also teach my students social skills and learning strategies that they will use throughout their lives to become successful in life and career when they are adults.
My Project
The ball chairs and wobble chairs are some flexible seating options that allow students with emotional and behavioral disabilities options in an environment where adaptations and modifications are needed minute to minute throughout the day.
Students with trouble regulating their emotions do best when they are given choices and are able to control a small amount of their academic day such as their seating preference.
Flexible seating options also allow students to move more in the classroom and that movement has been proven to help with focus on tasks. Having these items in the classroom will enhance the students experience in the classroom and make it a place where they enjoy coming to.
