My students need the choice of flexible seating in our classroom.

My Students

Like most 2nd graders, my students are full of energy and like to wiggle as much as possible. I teach in a very diverse Title I school with 400+ students in our K-2 building. Currently, I have 28 students in my classroom; all ranging in abilities. Each student brings with them a variety of background knowledge.

When walking into my classroom you will see students working together in a small group setting.

My classroom is a place where all students can feel safe and are encouraged to learn from one another.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to choose what seating suits them best for their learning environment. Flexible seating will consist of wobble seats, stability balls, and/or seat cushions from which students may choose to use. The Common Core State Standards want students to work more collaboratively in the classroom. Having students feel more comfortable in the classroom will boost students' involvement as well as academics. Students will be able to choose either a stability ball, cushion, or wobble seat to learn from.

Having a flexible seating option allows students to move about without much classroom distraction.

Every child learns differently, so creating an environment where students have choices will help meet the needs of all students. By donating to this project will not only help improve my students' attention and focus but you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement as well.
