This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a gifted teacher, instructional coach, club teacher, a wearer of many hats! We service over 550 AMAZING students, 50 of those who qualify for social and emotional services through their identification of gifted, sped, autistic, ED, etc. Academics are such a big focus in school, but here at Valley View, we know how much the "WHOLE CHILD" matters! We want to teach our kiddos social skills. You can help!
My Project
I just got a few small pieces of furniture for my flexible seating options and my students are doing so well! They LOVE the autonomy to work comfortably while being able to work on important academic skills. The freedom to work in a way that is most conducive to them builds an excitement and sustained focus for our classroom activities.
Being able to choose where and how they sit has increased their motivation to study and makes the classroom a more comfortable and authentic place to learn.
Each piece of furniture allows students who normally struggle in traditional seating, a chance to move around, stretch, and get comfortable while being able to focus on what really matters!
I want my classroom to look like a non-traditional classroom! A classroom that feels welcoming and meets them where they are. We have too many classrooms with students at desks in rows, facing forward, unable to adjust or move when needed.
This furniture provides us the space to expand not just our bodies, but our minds too!
