Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a diverse population of almost entirely minority students, in attendance, including many English learners, and several students who are barely speaking any English. We have great staff members who love the kids and support them in all aspects of their education. Safety is our number one priority in my school.

We hope to provide a well-rounded music education, where music class is “cool,” and kids look forward to coming to class.

We are finding ourselves in need of some supplies to help maintain our growing music program.

My Project

Our school has adopted a new curriculum for our core classes. I will be a mentor for 20-30 students on campus. These students will meet with me once per week to talk about progress and goals. While these meetings are taking place other students will be working indpendently on homework and projects. In order to help my students feel comfortable in my room, I’d like to purchase some bean bag chairs so that students can sit in alternate locations.

As a student myself, sometimes I find it easier to move around from tables, to the floor, and even laying on my bed.

I know my students will appreciate this opportunity as well.
