This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of eager learners. A typical day in our class is a mixture of lots of learning and a ton of fun. I've been blessed with students who love school, especially math! My goal is to grow my students' love for math by helping them to get a deeper understanding of the subject.

I have sixty-four fifth graders that range in age from ten to eleven.

My students come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. Our school is in a high poverty, urban area in NYC, in which many families are faced with a low income.

Our school atmosphere is absolutely amazing. Students, teachers and other faculty and staff operate as one big family. The students are eager to learn and impress their parents, teachers, principal and community. They go above and beyond each day to make us all proud.

My Project

Most, if not all, of my students love to move around while learning. Many of them are unable to sit still during the two hours of math and science class.

This table will allow my students to decide if they want to sit and learn or stand and learn.

Some may have extra energy and choose to stand or they can pull up a stool or chair at different heights to sit. The option is theirs.

These tables will provide my students with additional flexible seating options. The students will have a whiteboard at their fingertips. This will allow them to work out math problems without wasting paper and pencils. I know that my students will use these tables for years to come in more ways than one.

Once this project is funded and the tables are delivered, the students will begin using them that day, standing and learning with dry erase table tops.
