My Project
Middle school students love when the classroom space feels safe and comfortable. When there are minimal options and minimal quantities for flexible seating, some middle schoolers feel uncomfortable using the flexible seating for a variety of reasons. I want to provide an opportunity for students to have a variety of choices on the type of seating that allows them to get comfortable in their learning space and also be comfortable using it. Last year I purchased a couple of bean bag chairs, wobble stools, lamps, LED light strips, and a smaller area rug for the space. I found that students love sitting around the room on the floor during partner or independent working time. I would love the floor cushions, rocker chairs, and area rug to offer students a more comfortable option to sit on the floor. Students also love sitting in rolling chairs. I currently have 2 classroom office chairs that students like to use at their desks. I would love to offer a couple more options for students that prefer sitting at their desks. The students loved the additions to the classroom space last year and it has helped with student energy in the room. I hope to be able to provide more options that allow me to make the space even more comfortable for this year's 7th-grade class and future classes.
