Our kindergarten through sixth grade students attend an inner city charter school. The school is small and feels like a family. We are going through many changes and working hard to meet our goals.
Overall, the students are kind, willing to learn, and open to change.
They want to soak up knowledge and new experiences. By the time they walk into school, many of them have overcome the struggles of poverty, broken homes, and homelessness. Our charter school strives to meet all needs of our learners. We are a small school with big futures.
My Project
These three wobble chairs will be used everyday in our classroom for flexible seating. Many of my students have high energy levels and often fidget in their chairs until they fall off causing a distraction in the classroom. These wobble chairs are specially designed chairs that will help my energetic students to wiggle and wobble during times that they are needed to sit at desks or tables to complete class work without distracting other students.
Flexible Seating allows everyone to be successful.
Giving low-income, emotionally impaired students wobble chairs and balance balls will help the students to maintain control of their bodies by wiggling in the seats as they focus on academic tasks. Also, the flexible usage of wobble chairs and balls will help provide sensory support to students as they complete classwork while sitting in these seats.
We need the thesauruses for our reference area in the writing center. These will allow my students to become great writers by using different words. The personal word journals will hold word wall words, vocabulary words and hard to spell words.
