Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 30 eager "K" students who are always busy doing something! My population covers all continents and at least a dozen languages. Every minute and every second of our kindergarten day is a teachable moment!
Enthusiastic and energetic learners need a variety of seating options for success.
Not every body that enters kindergarten is meant to sit in a hard plastic chair.
My students need options for seating that allow them to sit comfortably on the floor. They need a little "squish" and a little "bounce" to help them get adjusted while still being able to sit and attend to the task.
My Project
On any given day, there is a "wiggler" in my classroom. This does not mean they will not be successful, they just need a chance to get the wiggles out so they can be successful with the task at hand, be it listening to a story on the rug, playing with a puzzle or doing seat work.
These alternatives to the plastic chairs in my classroom will allow students to find ways to sit and be successful and be a mover and a shaker at the same time.
Students can choose to use a comfy seat or seat pad on the rug to help them focus on the learning task at hand.
