My students need flexible seating for when they are collaborating and working on projects at the tables that are up higher than the desks. The stools will give the students an option to stand or sit.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 90 wonderful 8th graders at a Title I school who are engaged and ready to learn. They take everything I show them and apply it to the work and their activities. They also enjoy exploring lessons on their own and learning and applying the concepts on their own.

Many of my students come from bilingual families and the majority of them are on the free or reduced price lunch program.

My students consist of many multi-generational families as well as extended families. This project will help reach many students and benefit many families.

My Project

My students like to work at the tables that are a bit higher than the chairs that we have in the classroom. The students like to collaborate and work together at these tables but sometimes they want to sit at these tables. We do not have chairs in our room right now that work at the tables and the students have to stand. The stools will give them the option of standing or sitting at these tables to collaborate.

With the option of being able to sit or stand, more students would be able to collaborate at these tables and will be able to spread their work out instead of on the desks.

When the students collaborate together, they gain more out of my math class because they are discussing and helping each other with the concepts. They like being at the tables but would like to be able to sit instead of standing all the time.
