Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I will be teaching a combination of kindergarten and first-grade students at a Title I school in South Phoenix, Arizona. Our school is a close-knit, supportive community that serves a population largely comprised of low-socioeconomic families.
It is my goal to set up a learning environment that feels safe and inviting so that my students can focus on learning and growing.
I am so excited to watch my students reach their fullest potentials, and can't wait to see what this school year brings for us!
My Project
Students LOVE having a say in their learning. What better way to develop their learning independence by providing them with flexible seating options to support their learning. The materials that are chosen will allow students to determine what they need to be the best learner they can be.
Choices in the classroom bring meaningful experiences to each student’s learning!
When students are comfortable they feel confident to take risks and demonstrate all they are capable of. I want my students to understand that it is OK to know what they need as learners. Providing these choices is the first step in allowing my students to be independent learners.
