Flexible Seating for Healthy Bodies and Minds

My Students

Seeing students excited about school has been the greatest gift since joining Donors Choose. Our district has faced a lot of financial hardship in recent years and your donations make hands-on learning a reality in my classroom!

We are a rural, low-income school district surrounded by farmland, which many students live and work on.

Many of my students are tactile or kinesthetic learners who enjoy being able to get out of their desks, work with their hands, experiment, and create things. This project will help my students get up and moving, and keep them energized during the school day.

My Project

Many of my students are kinesthetic learners who struggle to sit still in a restrictive desk all day long. They are always asking for more innovative seating options but our school does not have any other options. Having flexible seating will help focus the extra energy many students possess and allow them to better engage in the lesson.

Giving students a positive way to release their desire to move will filter the distractions they may have created to diffuse their energy in other ways, such as pen tapping or getting out of their seats often.

This project will allow me to provide my students with flexible seating options for my classroom that not only improve their focus during class, but also help improve their balance and fitness. Hokki stools will allow my students to be more active and alert, and the pedal exercisers will help students create healthy lifelong habits.
