Flexible Seating for Growing Kindergarten Minds!

My Project

My classroom is filled with energetic, curious, and loving kindergarteners who are eager to learn and grow every single day. Many of my students are experiencing school for the very first time, and I want to create a space that makes them feel safe, empowered, and excited to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring with them a range of needs, learning styles, and personalities. My job is to meet them right where they are—and give them the environment they need to thrive.

This project will bring flexible seating options into our classroom, giving students the power to choose learning spaces that work best for their bodies and brains.

These seating options allow students to move, wiggle, and learn in the way that suits them best—whether they need to stand while writing, curl up with a book, or work collaboratively at floor level.

Kindergarteners are not meant to sit still all day. Flexible seating supports their natural need for movement while building independence and ownership of their learning. It also fosters a sense of community, as students learn to share space respectfully and make thoughtful choices.

Research shows that classroom environments directly impact student focus, engagement, and academic success. With flexible seating, my students will be able to listen better, stay focused longer, and feel more comfortable as they grow in confidence and comfort!
