My Project
Imagine walking into a classroom that feels more like a cozy coffee shop than a traditional row of desks. That’s what I dream of creating for my students—a learning space that adapts to their needs, encourages movement, and supports their focus.
My name is Mackenzie Poe, and I teach 5th grade at BRES, a public school where many students come from diverse and economically challenged backgrounds.
I believe every student deserves a comfortable, welcoming environment where they can thrive.
Research shows that giving students choices in how and where they sit improves engagement, focus, and collaboration. Traditional desks just don’t work for everyone—especially those who need to move, stretch, or find a quieter corner to concentrate.
These seating options will give students control over their learning environment. They’ll be able to choose where they feel most comfortable, which can make a huge difference in their behavior, motivation, and academic success.
