My Project

My students learn best when their bodies are regulated, but many of them struggle to sit still in traditional chairs for long periods of time. The wobble cushions in this project will give students a safe, quiet way to move while remaining seated and engaged. This gentle movement helps improve focus, reduces off-task behavior, and allows students to participate more fully in small-group instruction, independent work, and social-emotional learning activities. Instead of using energy to fight their bodies, students can use that energy to learn.

My goal for this project is to help students build focus, independence, and self-regulation during learning time.

I teach elementary students with disabilities who have unique sensory, attention, and emotional needs. What makes my students special is how hard they work every day to succeed—often while managing challenges that aren’t visible to others. These wobble cushions will give them an equitable tool to support their learning, helping them feel successful, confident, and ready to engage in the classroom.
