Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love that my students are resilient, hardworking, and eager to learn despite the challenges they face. Each brings a unique perspective, and I strive to create an environment where they feel comfortable, supported, and motivated to succeed. Many have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that require differentiated instruction and accommodations, including movement-friendly seating to help them focus.
Traditional desks and chairs don’t always work for my students, especially those who struggle with attention, sensory processing, or anxiety.
Many learn best when they can move, shift, or choose a seat that meets their comfort level. With flexible seating options like wobble stools, bean bag chairs, and portable lap desks, my students can sit where they learn best—whether standing, rocking, or sitting comfortably on the floor.
These seating choices will:
Improve Focus – Allow students who struggle with attention to move in a way that helps them stay engaged.
Enhance Comfort – Reduce anxiety and frustration by providing seating that meets different sensory needs. Encourage Collaboration – Create a welcoming, student-centered space where students can work together on math problems.
Support Individual Needs – Help students with ADHD, autism, and other learning differences find a workspace that allows them to concentrate.
My goal is to create a classroom where all students feel comfortable and ready to learn math. Flexible seating will foster a space where students can move, engage, and work at their own pace, helping them build confidence in problem-solving and take ownership of their learning.
My students are determined and full of potential. With the right tools and accommodations, they thrive. By funding this project, you will give them the opportunity to learn in a way that works best for them, setting them up for success in high school and beyond.
