My Students
My students currently attend a year-round school that loops! This means that we are together for first grade as well as second grade! We are in the middle of second grade and we have grown close having spent many months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other. My students are full of life and joy despite unstable homes, mental illness, and having to grow up way quicker than need be. I have an active bunch of children who truly love being at school and being part of the family our community has created.
My Project
I am looking to try flexible seating in my classroom to fit the needs of my students. My students are very active and would benefit greatly by having options that allow them to move while they work. By offering flexibale seating to my class it would offer student choice and voice in how they choose to learn from day today. Students would be introduced to each choice of flexibale seating with lots of modeling and then have a choice of how they choose to learn that day. Iwant my students to walk into our community and be welcomed by an environment that is open to collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking by creating flexible seating in my classroom.
