As a new special education teacher my goal is to provide an engaging and inclusive education for my students. My students are all deaf/ hard of hearing and all come from diverse backgrounds that enrich our class community.
They are a group of students who despite having to overcome challenging obstacles each day, come to school smiling and ready to learn!
My Project
My students thrive when they take charge of their learning environment and they get to decide where in the classroom they learn best. In order to help them reach their full learning potential, I would love to provide flexible seating options that fit the needs and desires they have shared with me for when we return to in-person instruction. Providing alternative flexible seating options will give students new opportunities to excel academically as well as help them understand the best way for them to lean, a skill they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. In addition to the seating options, the rug will be very beneficial for their hearing losses in absorbing sound that our new laminate flooring will not. I would appreciate our support in crating an environment that promotes student choice in learning!
