My students need wobble chairs and bouncy bands to help them better focus when working in small group sessions. Often many of my students fall off of their regular classroom chairs due to balance issues!

My Students
I currently teach in a special education class in Mount Vernon, New York. In this class, we have a group of very diverse learners, all of which have their own styles of learning. In this class we have students with Autism, various learning disabilities, and speech and language impairments. In the beginning of this year many of these students came to Second grade not knowing their letter sounds. I am proud to say that as they finish second grade many of them are reading books that are almost on level.
No matter what obstacles are put in their way, this group of students comes to school ready to learn every day and overcome anything put in their way!
There are difficult days working at this job, but the motivation and dedication the students show to their school work inspires me every day to come in and do my best. Just last week, I found out that I will be going up to 3rd grade with this class and I cannot wait!
My Project
Due to the needs of each of my students, we often work in a small group setting. Many times due to balance issues time is taken off of our classwork due to student complaints about their small group seats. We are requesting wobble chairs and bouncy bands so that students will be able to focus more of their energy at the task at hand.
I cannot wait to see the learning that will be done once the students can be comfortable when learning!
Not only will the seats requested help them during small group work, but so will the dry erase markers. Almost daily during math instruction many students require the use of a dry erase board to visually help them complete their work. Due to the fact that we use dry erase boards so often the markers die frequently leaving us without a crucial resource.
I cannot wait to see the learning that will be done by tgese beautiful and bright students!
