My kindergarteners are brand new to elementary school! This year will be an exciting time for students to learn to read, write, count, add, work with others, and so much more!! It is going to be a year full of growth and fun!
Kindergarteners come to school with excitement and an immense readiness to learn!
I want to work to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all of them. I can't wait to see all they accomplish this year and hope they finish the year with a love for learning.
My Project
My students are in school for the first time and I am working to make school a welcoming place for them. One way I am trying to do this is through flexible seating choices. I also want my students to feel empowered to pick the best learning spot for them where they can feel comfortable and focused in the classroom.
My kindergarteners have loved getting to choose to sit at a low table on the floor, sit in chairs or stand at a tall table.
Since we began flexible seating, students have been significantly more focused and independent. It is incredible to hear them self reflect and understand where they do their best learning. A majority of the class prefers to sit at the low table with the carpet.
This project would allow us to get a shag carpet and lower another table, so that more students can sit on the floor. This project would also get the class some multipurpose stools so that students can also sit at the tall table.
I'm also requesting Patterned Hand Pointers and Reusable Dry Erase Pockets for different classroom and writing activities.
