This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students work best in collaborative groups and partners. What a better way to encourage these collaborative groups other than having flexible seating. Sitting in desks all day is not conducive to 21st century learners, so I thought 2-4 seater high top tables would work better. These tables would allow students to work and collaborate in small groups either sitting or standing. Studies show that children need to move. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
