I teach in a school with students from diverse backgrounds and a high poverty rate, but my students come to school eager to learn. I strive to create a classroom environment that allows them to be successful.
My 28 students are full of energy and eager to learn!
Many of my students qualify for free lunch because of low household incomes. Many of my students are learning English as a second language, and even though that can be difficult, I work hard to help each of my students learn and grow when they come to school each day. We have a lot to cover in 5th grade to get them ready for middle school!
My Project
By allowing my students more options for seating, they will be able to use their energy to bounce or wiggle while continuing to learn. It also allows students a chance to move which is so important throughout the school day.
When students can make choices about their seating, it allows them to move around the room to work collaboratively with others and engage in critical thinking conversations.
I have a few choices for flexible seating that I purchased at the beginning of the year, and my students love it. They stay engaged in learning and enjoy being able to move during the school day instead of just sitting at a desk all day. This project would allow all of my students to use flexible seating each day.
