This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Like all young children, my first graders are active and love to move their bodies. They are still learning to calm their bodies so they can focus on teacher-directed lessons or independent work. It can be difficult for them to settle down to the quiet routine of the classroom.
The balance balls, bouncy bands, and wiggle cushions I am requesting will allow my first graders to engage in their work and satisfy their need to move around simultaneously.
These different ways of sitting will invite my first graders to choose how they are most comfortable learning in the classroom. When students are comfortable, they can focus on what they are learning.
