Help me give my students the opportunity for explicit modeling by gifting our classroom a document camera and flexible seating to practice their best work.
As learners in the twenty-first century, my students have shown improvements in learning by being in settings where physically, they feel a lot more comfortable. Oftentimes, the established ways of the past i.e. sitting in rows and facing the blackboard do not benefit them. They enjoy learning and are more engaged when they sit on the classroom rug, resting with a comfy pillow behind their back or using a lapboard. My students are also kinesthetic learners in that they love to move when completing their work.
While they always have the choice to stand, the bean bags and pillows would be more beneficial and practical in that they can remain seated and comfortable while also providing them with a little extra movement and comfort throughout the day.
The document camera will help my students stay focused and on task as I would be able to model explicit instruction during the mini-lessons.
